TITLE:             ACCOUNTANT (E&C/NUCLEAR)

 

ORGANIZATION UNIT: Engineering and Construction/Nuclear APPLICABLE TO: System

 

DUTIES:

 

Under general but not constant supervision, to do accounting and statistical work of a difficult and complex nature requiring the use ,of independent judgement and requiring accounting and construction and/or engineering knowledge in connection with work orders, physical property, requisitions, purchase orders, payroll and transportation accounting distributions and related

costs; to make cost studies on materials, equipment and services; to prepare schedules and reports; to prepare forecasts of construction, maintenance and material expenditures; to handle special assignments of a statistical, accounting, or engineering nature; to drive a Company vehicle and make field trips as required; and to do other related work when required.

 

In this connection to perform details of work, such as:

 

Obtain property data necessary for engineers' preliminary estimates and studies.

 

Prepare explanatory job descriptions and work orders from engineers' preliminary estimates and descriptions.

 

Obtain data and prepare monthly cash forecasts for construction and maintenance projects.

 

Prepare special analyses of investments in property and related data for use in connection with engineering studies and work orders.

 

Research, assemble, prepare data and assist in the preparation of the annual budgets. Prepare confidential and other types of reports. Accumulate, collate, prepare and maintain cost expenditures, and statistical data.

 

Assist in making budget reports and reconciliations through transcribing and compiling information from records produced by other divisions or work groups.

 

Inspection and accounting controls of various accounting records.

 

Assist in the preparation of various cost reports, special studies of work performance and cost results for management, .regulatory bodies, and other work groups. This includes the preparation of statements, schedules and exhibits.

 

Perform detail work in connection with audits or studies.

 


Perform special assignments, both recurring and non-recurring, of an accounting or statistical nature.

 

To check and analyze various expenditures of the E&C/Nuclear Divisions, prepare reports as assigned and perform a variety of other tasks as required.

 

Revise office and accounting forms as required.

 

Assist in the training of clerks-and other departmental   employees.

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For holding as confidential; information and results of studies relating to personnel; wages, financial and statistical data and costs, and information on financial, progress, performance, or other data relating to the accounts, construction or operation of the Company, including contract agreements with vendors and consultants.

 

For care to prevent errors in checking and approving accounting on work orders, payroll and transportation accounting distributions, requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, etc.

 

For careful care, use and custody of Company equipment and vehicles to prevent damage to the equipment and injury to the public or damage to property.

 

CONTACTS:

 

With department heads, supervisors, engineers, and employees in other departments and divisions as appropriate and necessary to the performance of this job relating to work orders, budgets, physical property, payrolls and costs.

 

Also, occasional contacts with others outside the Company, such as contractors, dealers, and suppliers, and their representatives, regarding cost of work and payments for equipment, materials and services provided by them.

 

HAZARDS:

 

Subject to the hazards of vehicular traffic when driving a Company vehicle and to the hazards involved in visiting Company facilities and construction sites.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Must have a degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Business Administration or Economics. Courses must include a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester hours of accounting with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.

Must have attained a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.

 

 

The grade point average is computed by dividing grade points earned by the semester hours counted for educational requirements. In calculating the grade point average, grade points and semester hours received for courses repeated shall be excluded.

 

Successfully pass the Company's Accounting job knowledge test. The test may be taken a maximum of two times separated by a six-month period. This test will not be given to those candidates who are Certified Public Accountants.
