DUTIES:

 

Under general supervision, buy and coordinate printing of externally produced jobs. This includes matching job needs with the most appropriate printers; bidding the work to get the best price; ensuring that the material given to the printer is delivered on time and in the most cost-effective format; ensuring that delivery instructions are correct; doing press checks, as. necessary.

 

Also, maintain an extensive, accurate list of external vendors for premiums, printing, paper, envelopes and other communications needs; work with internal clients to ensure delivery of the items.

 

Perform internal desktop publishing whenever feasible to allow for the formatting of newsletters, brochures, fliers and other materials. Maintain list of vendors who can supply similar skills as needed; mesh vendor computer needs with UE capabilities.

 

Provide advisory services to other areas of the company interested in taking materials that were initially drafted or reviewed by Corporate Communications and converting those to camera-ready art.

 

Provide proofreading as required. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Set up and maintain comprehensive tracking system of the company's advertising expenses and other expense-related tracking systems. Measure media expenses against media buys. Perform administrative duties related to advertising as required.

 

CONTACTS:

 

Extensive contacts -- personal, electronic mail, telephone, modem, mail -- with representatives of all media, printers, commercial artists and other vendors. Also extensive contacts with full range of employees in the company and at CIPS.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or business. Excellent computer skills, including business experience with spread sheet systems and at least one desktop design system, also required. Strong proofreading skills.

 

Knowledge of design, some print production, UE purchasing policies, internal and external resources preferred.
