TITLE: BUILDING SERVICE CONTROL CLERK

 

ORGANIZATION UNIT:

Supply Service - Building Service

 

APPLICABLE TO: St. Louis City

 

 

DUTIES:

 

Under directtbut not constant supervision, to personally perform. and to lead other employes in work in connection with purchase and maintenance of office furniture, office mechanical equipment,. audio-visual equipment; preparation of the departmental payroll, employe reimbursements and allowances; maintenance and preparation of employe records, petty cash expenditures, vending machine sales. and refunds,. etc.; to assist in training new and present employes; and to do or lead other employes in related work as required. In this connection to perform details of work, such as:

 

Preparation of the departmental payrolls and account­ing distribution summaries including verification of time slips, recapping to proper accounts and at correct rates. Compile lost, allowed time, personal absence and other records as required.

 

Maintain record of petty cash expenditures and refunds, transportation allowances, etc.

 

Maintain an inventory of office furniture and office mechanical equipment for the Union Electric System, coordinate details of maintenance services on such equipment. Prepare and verify blanket requisitions, contracts for service, invoices, cancellations, service. refunds, check accounting on invoices, etc.

 

Assist in the preparation of the data for the depart­mental budget and other costs as required.

 

Direct and assign the following work: maintenance

of records of conference room and audio-visual equip­ment reservations and usage.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For care in use of office equipment and other office appliances.

 

For holding as confidential information obtained in connection with the payroll, reports, service contracts, etc.


CONTACTS :

 

Personal or telephone contacts with suppliers and salesmen of office mechanical equipment.

 

Personal or telephone contacts with persons. of all types and levels when receiving or making telephone calls or directing callers, servicemen, etc.

 

Personal or telephone contacts with employes. in other depart­ments for the exchange of information.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by a course in. typing.

 

One year as a Senior Stenographer. or Senior Clerk.

 

Ability to handle clerical work, including multiplication and division with speed and accuracy; indicated ability to act as leader for a small group of employes.

 

Should be pleasant, courteous, tactful.

 

General knowledge of labor contracts, payroll practices and procedures.

 

Ability to operate office mechanical equipment..
