ORGANIZATION UNIT:Information Technology - Data Operations DUTIES:
Under direct and intermittent supervision, perform the following job duties:
Monitor and control computer operations, servers, peripherals and off-line equipment for the information technology operating environment.
Provide courteous service and assistance for all customers.
Respond correctly, proniptlyand'thoroughly to the various alarms, alerts and`abtnorrnal. events that occur during the shift. Most alarm and alert conditions have specific procedures documented that the Computer Operator must follow. However, it is just as critical that the Operator be watchful for problems not thoroughly documented and for what is "not happening" just as much as for alarm/alert conditions.
Monitor job schedules and report distribution; contribute to data center standards development and enforcement. Ensure accuracy of all information entered in production support systems to include problem tickets, logs and various operating instructions.
Adhere to established operating schedules insofar as is practical. Recommend and effect temporary alterations of schedules necessitated by equipment malfunction, the addition of nonscheduled jobs, or other reasons.
Coordinate and provide support for physical data storage, maintains, access and backup of a variety of data storage.
Assist in the performance of backups and restores in a timely and effective manner
Perform all duties necessary to ensure the continuous and correct operation of printing resources, to include but not limited to forms loading 'and unloading, 'equipment operation and control through various control screens, management of print jobs through mainframe consoles using various command syntaxes.
Ensuring the quality and accuracy of inputs and outputs by performing routine visual quality assurance checks.
Detect various machine/software/production problems. Determine and follow through with the proper method of correcting the problem.
Call out and coordinate IT response to operational issues unless relieved by an operations supervisor or manager.
COMPUTER OPERATOR II (Continued) SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
