DISTRIBUTION CLERK

 

ORGANIZATION UNIT: Distribution - Engineering

 

APPLICABLE TO: City

 

DUTIES:

 

Under direct but not constant supervision, to perform operations on service orders other than large industrial connections; to ascertain. and furnish information relative to service supply and relocation of distribution service facilities; and to perform related work as required. In this connection to perform details of Work, such as;

 

Enter date of each data sheet on plat book under proper address and designate if new, or additional, indicating line extension involved; check capacity of transformer and secondary and enter estimated additional transformer load required, in accordance with established demand data.

 

As required, make notation to Estimators to prepare necessary estimates and orders.

Issue memoranda to Service Inspectors for all new. connections on A.C. and D.C.•network systems, entering name and address of customer, load involved and name of contractor.

 

Enter meter size, type, voltage, phase to be installed and, on meter change orders, give similar information on meter to be removed.

Where line extension is involved,. check all requirements for extension, make necessary entries indicating require­ment and forward for typing.

 

Furnish information requested by customer, contractor

or employe relative to availability and characteristics. of service; also relocation of poles and service wires interfering with building additions, garages and driveways.

 

Dispatch emergency jobs by telephone to inspectors in the field.

 

Order load tests on distribution transformers to determine if transformer change is necessary.

 

Make daily checks of proposed meter enclosure installations on plat books and determine whether or not estimates are necessary.

 

issue installation or.removal orders for check meters.

 

Make ordinary plat layouts of minor extensions connections or additional loads.

Fill out order forms for removal of service wires from buildings to be wrecked.

 

Fill out forms to Sales Department regarding defective interior wiring; and to Meter Department when special current transformer type meters are required.

 

CONTACTS:

 

With customers and contractors by telephone and at counter on matters concerning service supply, service entrance locations, and service facilities.

 

With salesmen and clerical employes in the. Sales Department regarding availability and characteristics of service.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduation from high school, preferably with additional vocational training in approved night school or correspondence school.

 

Two years of experience with the Company in drafting or clerical work.

 

General knowledge of methods. and devices used in distribution of electricity.

 

Ability to handle telephone or personal inquiries from customers, contractors and others; should be courteous and tactful.
