TITLE: ENCLOSING MACHINE OPERATOR ORGANIZATION UNIT: Treasurer's APPLICABLE TO:

St. Louis Metro

DUTIES:

 

Under direct but not constant supervision to set up, adjust and operate enclosing equipment; and to perform related work as required. In this connection, to perform details of work such as:

 

Set up of enclosing machine including as many stations as job requires.

 

Adjustments to insure efficient operation. Handling, sorting, etc. of material to be enclosed.

 

Application of proper postage, maintaining daily records of proper charge accounts, ordering and control of stock inventory, and accurate completion of necessary postal forms for mailing.

 

Occasional typing and less skilled duties as needed.

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For holding as confidential information obtained in connection with enclosing of dividend checks, proxies, customer bills, pension checks, etc.

Maintain daily and monthly records of postal charges by category.

Use judgement, along with mechanical aptitude and technical abilities, to advise supervision of dimension requirements and machinability of materials and necessary revisions of inoperative materials.

 

Knowledge and application of Federal and local postal regula­tions.

 

Subject to lifting and/or moving heavy objects.

 

Machine troubleshooting, proper care, use, setup and repair of enclosing machines.

CONTACTS:

 

Occasionally with employees of other departments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Risk of injury involved with operation of machinery. Subject to some risk of soiled clothing.

Prolonged exposure to noise from machinery. QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
