TITLE: Energy Services Associate ORGANIZATION: Customer Services Division APPLICABLE TO: Alton
DUTIES:
Under indirect and intermittent supervision and working alone, to represent the Company with customers, builders, developers, any Company representatives, and other appropriate contacts regarding service requests. On occasion to assist or work with an Energy Services Consultant.
To process and monitor customer applications for service from start to finish, including, but not limited to the following activities:
·To provide the customer with information on rates, charges, programs, service requirements, and other technical expertise as required.
·To provide gas customers all the services provided to electrical customers, of a less complex nature, as determined by management.
·To obtain all required customer approvals, easements, and rights-of-way as needed, and to prepare appropriate contracts, permits, releases, plats and records.
·To make field inspections and prepare material and labor estimates, plats and drawings as needed for proposed construction.
·To use transit and level and other surveying instruments/tools as required.
·To design assigned jobs in accordance with Company electric standards and gas standards.
·Handle special requests as assigned. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for customer satisfaction with all facets of service work.
Responsible for ensuring proper application and collection of service related charges and protection of Company revenue. Company policies for revenue guarantees and contributions will be implemented to serve the best interest of the Company. Responsible to ensure billing and operating records are properly established for all service work.
Responsible for efficient and effective use of Company resources. Identify the method of service that is in the best interest of the Company.

Conduct self in an efficient and effective manner.
Keep customer information confidential.
Use Company equipment, when necessary, in a safe and prudent manner.
Protect public safety by preventing and/or identifying unsafe electric and/or gas facilities.
CONTACTS:
Customers, contractors, governmental authorities, real estate developers, banks, trust companies, and other contacts as appropriate. With construction department representatives, superintendents, supervisors/foremen regarding construction jobs; and with other Company representatives in the Marketing, Stores, Transportation and Meter Departments regarding estimates, materials, transportation facilities, and meter data.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
A combination of office and field environment. When in the field, must wear personal protective equipment as required.
Subject to all weather conditions. Subject to emergency call-out.
Operation of a vehicle(s), considerable walking over rough terrain and. the ability to use hand tools and equipment as required. Exposed to varying weather and construction site conditions. Will work in close proximity to energized electrical and pressurized natural gas facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
The qualifications for acceptance on these revised classifications shall be as shown in the job specifications and as further explained and amplified in the following:
·Satisfactory completion of six (6) semester hours with a grade C or better at an accredited university, college or junior college to include: Algebra I and Trigonometry.
·Satisfactory completion of six (6) semester hours approved by the Company with a grade of C or better at an accredited university, college or junior college to include: Statics and Strength of Materials or other related courses acceptable to the Company such as Physics I and R.

Distribution of Power and Plane Surveying or other related courses acceptable to the Company.
·Successfully pass Company's EEI Sales and Marketing Aptitude test.
If an aptitude test is failed on the employee's initial effort, it may be retaken after a one month waiting period, but not to be taken more than once per job posting. Only two retakes will be permitted.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
POST EMPLOYMENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Successfully complete the four classroom sections of the Company's technical training program for the Energy Services Associate position within one (1) year.
Successfully complete one (1) semester of Computer Assisted Drafting from an accredited junior college, college or university, with a minimum grade level of "B" on employee's time but at Company's expense; within one (1) year of job acceptance. Failure will result in disqualification from the job and the employee being returned to their former job as provided for in the Labor Agreement.
Employees will be required to take the Company AC/DC course and pass the test for that course with a minimum score of 80 percent during the first year of their employment on the Energy Services Associate position. Employees who either do not pass the test or do not complete the course in the one-year time frame will be disqualified from the position. If employees are disqualified for either of these reasons, the only avenue for these employees to again be considered for the Energy Services Associate position will be for them to take a course in AC/DC provided by an accredited university or college or technical school and pass the Company test with a minimum score of 80 percent prior to being accepted on the position.
If determined to be necessary, the successful applicants must complete a Company-sponsored training program consisting of technical and sales courses to include, but not limited to, AC electricity, DC electricity, mathematics, electrical wiring, blueprint reading, electric motors, HVAC systems, lighting, cooking equipment, energy conservation, rates, job procedures and application, and related sales training. These courses are segmented into specific time frames and the successful applicant will be required to pass a test related to each course in order to progress to the next course. Such course work and associated testing will be completed within two years from the date of the successful applicant's entry into the first class of the first course. Failure to pass a course twice will result in disqualification from the job in accordance with the terms of the Labor Agreement.
