TITLE:

ORDER INFORMATION     CLERK                          ORGANIZATION UNIT: Distribution - Office

 

APPLICABLE TO:

City, St. Louis County, East St. Louis

 

DUTIES:

 

Under direct but not constant supervision, to receive and answer inquiries by telephone or in person from customers, electrical contractors, City Inspectors, or employes of other Company depart­ments relative to service orders; when assigned to St. Louis County and East St. Louis to receive by telephone. applications for service and prepare necessary orders; to do associated clerical work; and to do related work as required. In this connection to perform details of work, such as:

 

Inform customer date service will be connected or disconnected..

 

File orders held for wiring approval and follow up to insure that order is canceled if approval is not obtained.

 

Arrange with real estate companies for access to vacant premises in order to obtain final meter reading.

 

Occasionally, receive trouble calls during emergencies. When assigned to City:

 

Provide information as to type of current and voltage available and connected load at a particular address.

 

Determine for new business and additional service orders that wiring. approvals, line extension approvals, work orders and permits are completed before orders are released, and follow-up.

 

Make regular checks with electrical contractors and City Inspection Bureau regarding wiring approvals on new installations.

 

When assigned to St. Louis County:

 

Receive telephone applications for connection or disconnection. of residential gas or electric service and connection of gas appliances and prepare orders, and transmit written and telephone instructions relative thereto to other groups.

 

Maintain file of orders requiring wiring approval, enter approvals on orders when received; sort all customer service orders and forward to Construction Department for execution.

 

Maintain street light records and prepare orders as directed and reports as required.

When assigned to East St. Louis:

 

Maintain meter test records.

 

Receive telephone application for connection or disconnection of electric service and prepare orders.

 

Prepare requests for customer refunds when required because of error in meter registration.

 

Prepare semi-monthly payroll and automobile time record of the Meter and Service Division.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For care in handling orders promptly and accurately in order that. service to customers be not delayed.

 

For holding as confidential payroll information and information obtained from customers or from Company records.

 

CONTACTS:

 

Regular telephone and occasional personal contacts with customers in connection with service applications, status of orders, inquiries relative to voltage and type of current available, and with electrical contractors and municipal inspection authorities regarding wiring approvals and customers' orders.

 

Personal and telephone contacts with clerks in other departments and. divisions in connection with details of customers service requests or orders.                                                    

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduation from high school, or the equivalent.

 

One and one-half years of experience in customers'. service. order work in the Company.

 

Knowledge of customers' service order procedures.

 

Have pleasing telephone voice, be neat in appearance and be courteous and tactful.
