TITLE:                           PERMIT AND EASEMENT CLERK

 

ORGANIZATION:        Distribution - Engineering

 

APPLICABLE TO: 

St. Louis County

DUTIES:

 

Under indirect and intermittent supervision, to do various kinds of routine work requiring the exercise of some independent judgment in connection with the work of the Permit and Right-of­Way Division; to secure necessary information for preparation of easements; to obtain easements required in connection with customers' gas and electric services; to file easements with Recorder; to prepare applications for City, County and State permits; to carry on correspondence with other utilities in connection with joint pole lines; to maintain card file of pole space of other utilities used by the Company; occasionally to make field inspections of pole space actually occupied; occasionally to file chattel mortgages with Recorder for Sales Department; to assist in maintaining list of all State, County and Municipal officials; incidentally to drive Company automobile; and to do related work as required.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For promptly handling orders and easements in order that service to customer not be delayed. For careful operation of Company automobile to avoid injury to public. For careful use and custody of Company automobile. For handling small amounts of cash in payment of recording fees. For retaining as confidential information obtained in connection with easements and gas and electric extensions.

 

CONTACTS:

 

Personal and occasional telephone contacts with municipal, County and State employees in connection with permits, recording of easements and mortgages and with customers and general public in connection with easements.

 

Personal and telephone contacts with division heads and employees of Distribution and Sales Departments concerning permits and easements.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

When in the field, subject to weather conditions.

 

HAZARDS:

 

Hazards involved in use of Company automobile and sometimes risk of dog bites. QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Graduation from high school or the equivalent. Two years of experience in record and drafting work in the Company, or one year of experience with some title company. Indicated ability to deal with general public; should be pleasant, courteous and tactful.
