TITLE: SENIOR CONSTRUCTION DRAFTSMAN ORGANIZATION UNIT: Power Operations Services
APPLICABLE TO: City and County
DUTIES:
Under indirect and intermittent supervision, to do all levels of drafting work on which the general design has been established, on construction and rehabilitation projects on steam, CTG and hydro power plants; and to do related work as required. In the connection to perform details of work, such as:
Prepare finished drawings from preliminary designs, diagrams, layouts, sketches, notes, specifications, or verbal instructions.
Make study drawings of equipment arrangements and clearances in the development of a construction project.
Make simple calculations or use tables or determine clearances, volumes, heat losses, wire sizes, conduit sizes, pipe sizes, etc.
Make wiring diagrams from schematics. Prepare schedules, bills of materials, etc.
Occasionally, check drawings of other Senior Construction Draftsmen or Draftsmen of lower classifications.
Occasionally, obtain detailed information in the field, usually accompanied by a Supervisor, or others.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
For the accuracy and conformity to standards of the work he/she checks. For care to prevent errors in field measurements taken by him/her.
For holding as confidential advance information concerning construction projects. CONTACTS:

SENIOR CONSTRUCTION DRAFTSMAN (Continued) WORKING CONDITIONS:
When on field trips or assigned to a plant, subject to usual conditions existing in power plants, substations and other buildings, and subject to outdoor weather conditions.
HAZARDS:
When on field trips or assigned to a plant, subject to those hazards incidental to visiting construction projects, power plants, substations and other buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
Two years as a Junior Construction Draftsman and satisfactory completion of 30 credit hours of study leading toward an Associate's Degree in engineering or engineering technology, with at least two advanced courses in CAD, at an accredited university, college or junior college. The credit hours must be taken in the field of electrical, mechanical or structural engineering or technology in the discipline the employee selected.
