TITLE:                          Senior Analyst

 

ORGANIZATION: Information Technology APPLICABLE TO: IT Development

 

DUTIES:

 

Under general supervision, exercising a high degree of independent judgment and skill on problems frequently of a complex and confidential nature, to participate in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications. In this capacity, as assigned, to undertake such work as:

 

Provide business analysis and programming expertise within an assigned business unit/area, at times to lead a project team in the analysis, design, and development of business applications. This requires full technical knowledge of all phases of application systems analysis and programming, with an understanding of the business unit or function for which the application is designed.

 

Provide technical consulting support on project or system issues. Check the work of other Analysts and project team members as assigned. Responsible for high contribution towards quality assurance, project completion, and user satisfaction.

 

Evaluate application software packages and make recommendations to management or other project leaders as assigned. Participate with other IT members, customers, and other stakeholders in new product reviews, tests, and pilots.

 

Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact­finding to develop or modify moderately/highly complex information systems to solve business problems.

 

Regularly coach other project personnel in all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices. Responsible for completion of assigned project phases and/or assigned projects.

 

Collect and analyze business requirements for large, multifunctional projects by performing feasibility studies, translating requirements into appropriate design, and facilitating joint application design workshops and/or other requirements.

 

Prepare and review detailed specifications from which programs will be written and ensure production and quality of applications meets specifications of operational schedules and business activities.


Analyze, develop, implement, and support procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results.

 

Develop or modify application programs from detailed specifications. Code, test, debug, and document programs.

 

Develop and maintain application interfaces, reports, conversion programs, and custom functionality.

 

Identify conflicting business practices and integration issues, recommending alternative solutions. Articulate, through oral or written communication, potential changes in business processes and the corresponding enabling technical solutions that will result in significant operational improvements.

 

Monitor and report to management or other assigned project leaders on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions.

 

Develop business relationships and integrate activities with other IT departments to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts. Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.

 

Special assignments, both recurring and non-recurring, in connection with IT operations.

 

SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

For holding as confidential information relating to Company operations. For proper care of equipment, data, and supplies.

 

For adherence to departmental operating requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics, or equivalent computer related degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in computer programming and analysis/design courses. The computer related courses require a minimum grade of C, with a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 or 3.5 on a scale of 5.0. Four years of directly related experience in programming/analysis with one of those years at Ameren at the Intermediate Analyst level.

 

Or

 

1)    An Associate's Degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university and six years of directly related experience, or

 

2)    Ten years of directly related experience in lieu of the academic requirements. One year of Ameren experience at the Intermediate Analyst level.

 

• Acceptable recommendation from independent performance evaluation based on successful performance of job roles and responsibilities and necessary functional and technical expertise.
